Bexley Turns Two

Last week my niece puppy celebrated her 2nd birthday. And, it wouldn’t be a birthday without a “paw-ty”.

As you may remember, Abby screwed herself by setting a really high bar last year.  Thankfully, she stepped up to the challenge once again with a pirate themed party, complete with dog-friendly pirates booty (i.e. egg casserole)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE CUTEST PIRATE AROUND!

Bexley’s Pirate’s Booty

Well beaten eggs, spinach, hot dogs and cheese all mixed together,

Pour mixture into in a casserole dish, cover with tinfoil  and bake in the oven at 450 for 15 minutes,

Remove tinfoil and continue cooking until it looks done/cheese is melted.

Midas Touch

Everything Martha Stewart touches turns to gold. And I am really starting to get a little sick of it.

She has, hands down, the best craft room

She has her own line of glitter.

She can think of a craft for EVERY holiday

She makes donuts look classy

And her chicken coop is nicer than my apartment

And now, even her dog is deemed perfect. Yesterday, Martha Stewart’s 2-year-old Chow Chow, Ghenghis Khan, won best of breed at the Westminster Dog Show .

So what’s the first stop for an award-winning dog – why, the Today Show of course.

Honestly, I am not sure how much more of this I can take. Thank goodness there was this little blip on Ms. Stewart’s record… without it I might actually die of jealousy.

Puppy Party!

This week, the cutest puppy in the whole wide word, my niece Bexley celebrated her first birthday. My sister went all out with a party at daycare, two trips to the dog park in one day and homemade doggie treats for Bex and all her friends. Even I have to admit, I was impressed – and we all know, that takes quite a bit.

Not going to lie, when I have a baby, I am going to seriously consider sending them to the same daycare as Bexley. Not only will that allow the cousins to bond, but the lady who runs the place (while a little nutty) definitely loves these pups! I mean, did you see the homemade paw print Birthday card she gave Bexley? Sick!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEXLEY!

What’s in a Name?

Yesterday as I was walking down the street to me apartment, I noticed a guy walking two french bulldogs coming towards me. We have a lot of dogs that live in out building and you often see them out on our street. However, I had never seen these two little guys before. I was sort of staring at the owner to see if I recognized him when he said:

“Hey Molly!”

I immediately tried to rack my brain to figure out how I knew him… just as I was smiling and about to say hi, I realized that he was actually speaking to the  dog that was behind me.

Thanks mom and dad for giving me a dog name. I really appreciate it.

A New Family Member

Since my blogging hiatus, the Brethauer Family has added two new family members. One, Matt, my newly acquired Husband. But the second, and substantially more exciting, is my new niece, Bexley.

Bexley is my sister’s new puppy. She joined the family back in April and has been the center of attention since. I used to get videos and pictures every day – unfortunately it has become more of a weekly or every other week thing.

Kisses for Molly

Who needs a paper shredder when you have a dog?

She has provided hours and hours of entertainment

Now, if only we can teach Matt to do this…

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY BEX!

True Love

I am taking a break today from my vacation re-cap for three reasons:

1. It has come to my attention that many people are jealous of our awesome trip and I don’t want to rub it in further by talking, yet again, about our vacation.
2. All of my vacation pictures are on my computer at home.
3. I had a funny conversation this morning that is worth repeating.

One of my good friends Noelle (author of Jaded Inspiration), and I were chatting online this morning. Typically, we both sit at our desks at work and complain about our lives to each other. Common conversations include the following:

1. Complaining about the fact that we are smarter than everyone else we work with.
2. Complaining about the fact that we are smarter and better looking than our significant others.
3. Our love for Dunkin Donuts
4. Reeses (Noelle’s dog)
5. Emailing/texting each other when the other one isn’t online to figure out what not.

Below is the conversation I had with Noelle this morning:

me:  HEY!
Noelle:  supppppp
me:  not much. pretending to do work but really working on my wedding
Noelle:  sweeeet. hows that going
me:  pretty good. finalizing our save the date and guest list. i can’t decide if i should give you a plus one
Noelle:  dont bother
me: how has bobby (AKA her husband Justin) been behaving lately?
Noelle: hes been fun. he came with me to the gay bar
me:  no way. that is true love
Noelle:  yup. he loves me

So yet again, Noelle has shown me all that I have to look forward to once I am married. Honestly, I can’t wait. Right now, I can’t even convince Matt to watch “Brokeback Mountain”  – just wait till we are married!
