Matt and I have been watching a lot of House Hunters recently. Not only is this show entertaining but I consider it research. I’ve learned about curb appeal, the difference between Tudor and a modern contemporary style and that everyone wants an open concept floor plan. And its all been leading to this moment.
Now, let’s not get excited — we are not looking to buy a house. But we are ready to do what most newly married couples do when they live in New York…
Move to Brooklyn!
Matt and I have been talking about this for a while and both agree that this makes sense. And don’t worry — we will actually be closer to our favorite 3rd wheel, Kinsella, after the move. So after watching House Hunters nearly every night for a month, we figured we were ready. I spent a few hours on Craigslist, made a few appointments and took the subway over to Williamsburg.
Unfortunately, after looking at a couple places, the reality of the challenge set before us has set in. We’ve only seen a couple placing, but they are depressing. They are small. They are expensive. And we didn’t experience that magical feeling that overcomes the people on House Hunters every single episode. I mean, you never see an episode where they hate all three options.
Maybe Matt and I need to apply to be on the show…. What do you think? Would we be entertaining enough for the HGTV audience? The good news is that once we do find a place, thanks to Design Star, I will certainly know how to decorate it!
If anyone has any apartment hunting advice – please let me know!
No, this is not another post about Notre Dame football. This is a blog to proclaim that my life will be complete again on Monday September 19.
The return of the Sing Off could not have come at a better time. With the season finale of Design Star just one week away, I was starting to worry. Currently, every Monday from 9-10pm, I sit in my bedroom watching Design Star. Sadly, Matt doesn’t share my passion for David Bromstad and interior decorating (weird, right?). So, I am forced to retreat into the bedroom and text my sister every 3 minutes about the ongoings of the show. The thought of not having this special bonding time is something that I don’t even want to think about.
Well, with the return of The Sing Off, thankfully I don’t have to face those challenging times. And this time around it will be even better. Although we don’t have David Bromstad to watch, we will have Nick Lachey. And Matt will most likely participate in this family fun since he has a massive NGC (non-gay crush) on Mr. Lachey.
It is so nice when you have so much to look forward to in your life. Man, I am one lucky duck.
I have only been married for 1 month and I already have a new man in my life… David Bromstad.
After spending an entire day with him last week during a “Color Splash” marathon, I must confess… I am in love with David. Not only is he super cute and has an addictive personality, but he is talented as well. The rooms that he transforms on his tv show are amazing. I love everything he does! He inspires me to step outside my Crate and Barrel comfort zone and take risks.
Now, not only can you see David on his tv show “Color Splash” but on Monday nights, he appears on the HGTV reality show “Design Star.” This is the show that launch his career forward after he won to design contest. This year, David will be serving as the mentor to this year’s contestants, offer advice and a friendly smile.
Matt and I just re-signed our lease for another year in our current apartment. With all the wedding planning, we didn’t have enough time to really look and see what else is out there. And while I really do like where we live, I am getting a little tired of it. I want to start fresh, with a new blank canvass to decorate. So now, I will dedicate the next 12 months to finding that perfect place. Let’s just hope it comes with two bedrooms, some outdoor space and an inexpensive monthly rent! And when I find it, I am going to invite my new BFF David over to help me get started!
Hey, a girl can dream, right?
