How You Can Help with Robin Hood’s Hurricane Relief

Many of you have reached out to me over the past few days asking how you can help – my response has been “sit tight, we are assessing the needs of our programs.” Thank you for waiting patiently – I’m excited to tell you that I now have a tangible and meaningful way for you to help one of the programs we fund, The River Fund.

The River Fund’s mission to feed and empower those we serve to move beyond the line of poverty encompasses food and non-food needs of people living near or below the poverty level. People need the basic necessities of food, shelter and a sense of self-dignity.  Their programs are designed to help meet those needs in a safe and supportive environment.

Located in Queens, over the past week they have dramatically increased the numbers of people they have been serving – sending trucks out to the Rockaways, (including the area of Breezy Point that suffered the fire that demolished 111+ homes), Coney Island and Red Hook – all areas with the incredible devastation.

Robin Hood has already responded to some of their needs, for example replacing a freezer that was ruined as a result of a power surge. However, their needs are vast and varied, including hats, gloves, batteries and socks.

Thankfully, by creating an Amazon Wish List for The River Fund, Robin Hood is able to ensure that they get the supplies for which they have an immediate need.

You’ve all seen the devastation on TV and some of you have witnessed it in person. The need is real and the need is now. If you decide to purchase something for this group, please use the fastest shipping method you are able to.

Please reach out with any questions – and don’t feel pressured to participate in this. I am simply offering it as a way to help IF you are looking for one.

Thank you for your ongoing support. Thank you for being Robin Hood.
